Quick Start Guide
Why
DiskYT is the easiest way to create a list of your favorite YouTube videos, whether it's a video of a song or otherwise. First you create one or more stations and then inside each station create your disks (playlists). You can also create folders inside stations and subfolders, you can customize your lists, and even add other people's stations or lists to your folders. The list may be just a copy of a YouTube playlist or it can be a live link. In the latter case all playlist changes on YouTube are reflected via the link. Imagine a link to a podcast series. Any new episode appears both on YouTube and on your DiskYT playlist.
Navigation
When you just start there is only one navigation item on the left - All Stations, which is a list of stations created by users so far. Once you're logged in, one more item is revealed - My Stations - this is where you create your stations. Click on the treble clef at the top left corner ( ) and start editing your stations and disks.
Viewing vs Editing

There are two distinct modes when interacting with DiskYT: Edit mode and Play mode (you toggle between them by clicking on the treble clef ( ) in the top left corner). The Edit mode is all about creating your playlists. This mode relies heavily on drag-and-drop support by desktop browsers, so it is mainly for desktops and laptops. The Play mode on the other hand is fully supported on all devices including mobile. To make your experience even better, a companion app is provided as well. The DiskYT app does not allow you to change your lists, but makes playback and navigation more enjoyable.
Station vs Folder vs Disk

When you are in the Edit mode on the My Stations page, there is a single rectangle placeholder for your first station (all stations are marked with icon). Start station creation with naming your station in the bottom part of the rectangle. To make a thumbnail for your station drag a link from YouTube and drop it on your station. The station is ready - click the Save ( ) button on the left. Double click on your new station and create your first disk following the same steps. To create a folder instead of a disk, click disk icon ( ) at the top of your disk placeholder. Click it again ( ) to switch back to disk.
DiskYT Drag and Drop

To drag a link from YouTube open YouTube in one browser tab and DiskYT My Stations in another tab (navigate to the station or folder of your choice) and drag and drop a video link or a playlist link from YouTube to DiskYT (be aware that some browsers don't support drag and drop, but Chrome and Firefox for desktops and laptops definitely do). Dragging a YouTube playlist link in the Edit mode will copy the playlist content into your disk. You may also drag the same playlist link in the Play mode. It will create a live link to the YouTube playlist. However in the Play mode you need to create an empty destination disk first (Control+click on the DiskYT page to create one).
Drag and Drop Everything

And it's even more than just link drag and drop. You may drag your videos (or even whole disks/folders) between different disks/folders or within a single disk. Dragging a disk on another disk with Control pressed will merge two disks.

And if you open DiskYT in multiple browser tabs, you may drag DiskYT disks across tabs too (assuming you own the destination page)! And depending on whether you are in the Play mode or in the Edit mode the resulting disk will be either a link or a copy of the original disk.
Remove, Disable, Enable Disks

You may remove videos from lists that you don't need or temporarily disable/hide them, so that they don't appear in your list. The same applies to your disks. They may be enabled/disabled or completely removed.
Start and Stop Time

And it's getting even better. You can adjust start and stop time of every video (double click on track entry to start editing).
Tracklists

And sometimes one video is actually a whole track list on its own. No problem. In the Edit mode click on the video options icon ( ) and paste that track list into the text box. The track list will be auto-magically split into individual videos.
Disk Cover

The thumbnail for your disk is by default the thumbnail of the first video in your list. Clicking on the photo icon ( ) of any other video from the list will change the disk thumbnail (if the video is used only as a thumbnail, just mark it as disabled/hidden in the list).
Remove, Disable, Enable Videos
The same way as you enable/disable individual songs, you may enable/disable your stations/folders/disks. You may remove them at any time.
Private Lists
By default all stations you create are visible to everyone (public), but if you don't want to share your stations with others just create them as unlisted or private.
Copying DiskYT Playlists to YouTube
There are two ways to get to the "DiskYT to YouTube" page. One way is just Control+click any disk or alternatively in the Edit mode select Sync icon ( ) at the top of a disk.

Advanced Features
And sometimes manual drag and drop is still not enough. This is when DiskYT support for script processing may be the ticket. In the Edit mode click JavaScript Transform icon on the left ( ) and follow the instructions. If you are nerdy enough you will be delighted.
For some simple tasks Search/Replace ( ) may be an easier option (and regular expressions are supported too).
How is it Better
How is it different from a regular YouTube playlist you ask? To start off, you may use your Facebook account and not only your Google/Gmail account. The structure of stations/folders is more flexible. You have more control over what is displayed on the page (and we don't display much to start with). If you don't want to login, you may still enjoy playlists created by others, but that's somewhat less fun.
Privacy
Speaking of privacy, when you login, we request from Facebook/Google as little data as possible, just to identify your account uniquely. We don't store your email, but only your name. And even your name is never made public - instead you may choose whatever display name you want. We do put all reasonable safeguards to protect your data, but there is always a chance that hackers are ahead of us in this game. There is not much to steal (no emails or passwords), but who knows what they are after.
But Wait, There's More
There are more features in DiskYT than we covered so far, but this info should be sufficient to get you started. If you really want to dig deeper, more detailed documentation is available on our GitHub page.
More to Come
There are probably many things that can be improved or added to DiskYT, but we need to start somewhere. There is no mobile app for the iPhone yet, but it's on our to-do list too.
